​Our roots date back over four generations from Italy to the United States. When Nonno Santo, our grandfather, opened the Stony Brook Hotel/Restaurant in Long Island, NY that tragically burned in a fire.  Moving his young family to Miami, opening the first Italian establishment, known as the Empire Bar & Grill adapting the name Allegro,  on 1st Avenue, in downtown Miami on Brickell Avenue. Neighboring the late Mary Brickell, a patron, friend and namesake to Downtown Miami’s, Mary Brickell Village, and where Mast' Antonio (Santo’s son and our Dad), as a young boy, fished in the Miami River, roller-skated to the local grocery store, and rode his pony amongst the dirt roads and stunning waterways. Also, where, Nonno Santo to entice new customers executed his vision introducing, "small plates," as samplings of his menu while patrons waited on line to dine. Likewise, featuring entertainment with local musicians, presenting a lively musical place; hence, the name "ALLEGRO," was born, and the next generation of family, Bars and Restaurants.

Carrying on the family tradition and excellence in fine dining. The family moved back to NYC, years later, where Mast' Antonio Chef (Babbo) built the second Allegro on Bruckner Blvd, Bronx, NY, known as the 1st sidewalk Cafe Resturant in NYC.  Following, the 3rd Allegro, Home of Fine Foods on Pelham Parkway, Bronx, NY. Along with Babbo's unparalleled culinary skills and his beautiful wife, Lucile, professional pastry chef. Took great care assembling teams of only the best chefs,  sommeliers and experienced kitchen/bar/dining staff, leading to lines around the block and the patrons all agreeing, "Well worth the wait!"

Decades later this Restaurateur and Master Chef, along with his son and business partner, Santino, expanded the family business into New York's Discothèque scene, "Heat." A famous Manhattan nightclub and main rival to the legendary, Steve Rubell's, “Studio 54,” who became our comrade and frequent guest, causing many a media frenzy with countless celebrity sitings. Launching Heat's opening night with music superstar, Chuck Berry, along with Joe Cocker, B-52s, Blondie, just to name a few.  Packing the club nightly, with two shows and waiting lines, all the way back to the West Side Highway.

Fast forward to Today - Babbo's daughters:  Francesca, Chef, Food & Wine specialist, International Operatic Soprano, accordingly, the term 'Musica nella Cucina,' Media Entrepreneur, Writer and Photographer for multiple Food and Wine affiliations.  And Cecile, Master of Marketing, Accomplished Business woman, and Author.  Born and raised in the restaurant and bar

businesses and naturally, talented cooks, bakers, confectioners & wine stewards, in their own right. Ardently, carrying on the family tradition, traveling the world to bring you the skinny, on the best FoodsNWines!
